Who is responsible for your information.

Tony Shepherd, operating under the PixByShep brand, is responsible for the Monochrome Lab Pro website and our support and licensing services. For privacy questions or requests, contact tony@pixbyshep.com.

This policy covers monochromelab.app and Monochrome Lab Pro. Services apply according to the version you use; trial and license activation features are being introduced with 4.7.4.

Photographs and editing data.

Monochrome Lab Pro processes your photographs locally on your Mac. The app does not upload your photographs, catalog, or editing history to our trial or activation service. We do not use your photographs for advertising or to train AI models.

If you choose to send an image, screenshot, catalog excerpt, or diagnostic file to support, we receive what you send and use it to investigate your request. Please remove unrelated personal information before sharing support files.

Information we receive.

  • Website visits and downloads: our hosting and security providers process technical information such as IP address, request time, requested URL, browser information, and security signals to deliver and protect the site.
  • Support: your email address, name if provided, correspondence, purchase reference, and any diagnostic information or files you choose to share.
  • Purchases: order and customer identifiers, license type, computer allowance, payment status, and contact or receipt information provided by the seller. We do not receive your full card number or card security code from Paddle.
  • Trial and activation services, where enabled: a hashed computer identifier, a public device key, trial dates, license and activation status, and request verification information. These records help enforce trial duration and the purchased computer allowance. A hashed identifier is still treated as personal data when it can be associated with a device or license.

Why we use this information.

We use information to deliver downloads and licenses, validate trials and activations, provide support, communicate about orders, prevent fraud and abuse, protect the service, and meet accounting or other legal obligations. Where data protection law requires a legal basis, these activities rely on performing our agreement with you, legal obligations, and legitimate interests in providing and securing the service. Where consent is required, we seek it and you may withdraw it.

We do not sell personal information or use activation information for targeted advertising.

Service providers and payment services.

Cloudflare provides website delivery, security, and infrastructure used by our licensing service. The website is published through OpenAI Sites. These providers may process technical request data to operate and protect their services.

When you purchase through Paddle, Paddle acts as merchant of record and processes payment, billing, tax, and fraud-prevention information under its own Privacy Notice. For an order through our PixByShep store, the store and its payment provider also process your checkout information under their published policies.

Cloudflare Email Service processes your purchase email address and activation-message content to deliver your license code and setup instructions. We share information with service providers as needed to perform these functions, and may disclose it when legally required or necessary to protect lawful rights.

Cookies and browser storage.

Hosting, security, and checkout services may use cookies or similar storage for security, session continuity, fraud prevention, and payment completion. The activation checkout uses a temporary purchase-session cookie so the browser can retrieve its activation code. We do not add advertising trackers to the Monochrome Lab Pro website.

You can manage cookies through your browser and any consent controls supplied by the relevant provider. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent checkout or receipt retrieval from working.

Retention, security, and location.

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, support your purchase, prevent repeated trials or license misuse, resolve disputes, and satisfy legal obligations. Trial records may remain after expiry to prevent trial resets. Purchase and activation records may remain for the life of the license and any necessary legal retention period. Temporary request-verification and abuse-prevention records are removed on shorter schedules.

We use access controls and technical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle, but no service can guarantee absolute security. Our providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Your choices and rights.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of your personal information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or complain to your local data protection authority. Contact tony@pixbyshep.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity and may retain records where required by law or needed to establish license rights. Deleting information required for activation may affect our ability to provide that service.

For payment information held by Paddle, you can also contact Paddle using the details in its Privacy Notice. You control your local photo files and can back them up or delete them using your Mac.

Children and policy changes.

Our purchase and licensing services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact tony@pixbyshep.com if you believe a child has provided information to us.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date appears above, and we will provide further notice where required.
