Save projects and reuse templates
Keep the finished sequence. Reuse the page design.
A project remembers an arrangement with its photographs. A template remembers a reusable page design. They solve different problems and have separate places in the left column.
The method
Step by step.
- Start in Layouts with Untitled Project. Applying a template does not replace the project name. MLP starts fresh at launch instead of reloading the last project.
- Use Save in Projects to name the work. Enter confirms the name. MLP saves native project files in its managed Projects folder.
- Use Open for the macOS project-file picker or choose an entry from Recent Projects. Close leaves the current project with unsaved-work protection.
- The Projects three-dot menu includes Save, Open, Close, Rename, and Delete. Keep source photographs available: a project is not a duplicate of every original.
- Use + in Templates to save a page design. The list is collapsible, and each template has its own options, including Rename and Save Duplicate. A default template can provide your starting design.
- Save your project again after arranging its photographs. Export JPEG when ready to share; keep the project for later revisions.

Choosing a template does not save a finished project. Save the project separately before closing.
